AIPA’s Submission to Aviation Green Paper – Towards 2050

The vast majority of Australians would feel less safe and be more hesitant to book a ticket for a flight with only one pilot, new polling reveals.

It is my pleasure to present this year’s Annual Report. The past 12 months have seen several challenges for our Association.

As airline pilots, it is vital we take a measured approach to our decision making. We gather all the available information and assess our options prior to adopting a course of action. 

Drone use within the vicinity of airports can present a clear and present danger to commercial aviation. The increase of drones within no-fly zones around airports, causes significant concerns for airlines, their passengers and crew.

The Australian and International Pilots Association (AIPA) is bitterly disappointed and frustrated by Qantas' decision to wet lease two Finnair aircraft.

On the 21st of February 2017, a Beechcraft King Air crashed into a building that is part of the Essendon Airport Bulla Road retail precinct, tragically killing all five occupants on board. This accident has put a spotlight on why a shopping centre was built closer to one of Essendon Airport’s runways than international standards allow.
